Nate's last homework assignment...

As some of you know, we started home schooling Nate in January. So far things are going ok (he loves it...i have a sort of love/hate relationship with it). One of the benefits of home schooling is that I have time (or rather he has time) to do assignments that I feel will not only benefit his schooling but also his attitude :-). I'm sure your children don't have that problem but you see Nate tends to have this idea sometimes that some how...some way...he is DEPRIVED. Hmmm...any of your kids have that lovely character trait? :-)

So...when I come across an article, story or movie (or anything for that matter!) that I think will benefit this particular character trait I of course jump on the chance to share it with my dear Nate. :-) The article I had him read today was about a lady & her son who were in my old ward in Minnesota. Shortly after I moved here she had to leave her husband (he was not a very good man) and take her children to Utah. She then remarried and got another divorce and in the midst of this discovered that her son had this tumor. The story of her son was very touching and inspiring. It is a reminder of the simple things we take for grantid every day. I thought this might be a great way for Nate to see how good he has it. His answer...was pretty entertaining.

Question #10: What kinds of things are you grateful for now that you have read the story about PJ?

Answer: "im greatful that i have a cell phone (he got jason's old cell phone which is not activated), and that i can ride a scooter and that i have a brother to play with. and that i have the privlige t be able to go on the computer and so on"

"i say these things in the name of gesus christ amen."

His last writing assignment at school had something to do with "apple bottom jeans....boots with the fur" so I think we are making progress? Now we just have to work on his spelling...

Here is the link in case you want to read the story...

Wow! It's amazing how little stories you read can really make you appreciate what you have. Good job home schooling Nate, that would be really challenging. I hope it is going well.

A couple of weekends ago we were at the store, and my oldest kept complaining about how he "never gets anything, wah, wah, wah". So when we got home. I made him go to his room, and think of everything he has. He came back with a pretty impressive list. It definetly changed his mind. But just to prove my point. I showed him pictures of starving kids in Africa anyways.

Wow you are impressive! I don't know if I could homeschool-and I'm a teacher! I'm glad it's going well so far. Is Nate liking it?
I'm going to have to check out that book for sure!
And sorry about your wisdome teeth, that is no fun at all!
I hope everyone is now feeling well!
