2012 House Re-do!

This all started in 2011 when I was sitting in my front room looking at my sofa table and a grand idea popped into my mind that I "needed" something bigger and better than what I had. So over the course of a few months I went to a handful of furniture stores & looked online for this big sofa table I had pictured in my head. I went from wanting a larger sofa table to a buffet table to a dresser. I am all over the place but patience paid off in this case.

After a few weeks of searching I finally found it...the perfect dresser! Even though we were right in the middle,of moving Jason's office the good man that he is drove me all the way out to Tempe late at night to buy this beauty :). So it started....what color do I paint this? A year before it most definitely would have been black and even 6 months prior it would have been perhaps a dark stain but I had found a new love for antiques and for white furniture. My taste in decor had drastically changed but I was loving it! A new white dresser meant that 80% of my furniture and the wall paint..had to go. So I salvaged what I could (painted anything that could be painted) and headed over to Home Goods a few times for the next several months. I think they seriously hated me. My reciept pile was out of control. I would buy...and take back, buy and take back. Ridiculous.

Truth be told...if I was starting from scratch it would look even still slightly different but for budget's sake I left a few things alone. The last thing I changed was the fabric on the chairs for the dining room table. This is where I get antsy to just finish a project and don't make the best decisions. I'm ok with it but the fabric I ordered was not what I thought I was getting. It was fairly inexpensive to re-cover so I may take a stab at it again later this year. Who knows :-)

When one room was re-done I went upstairs to Nate's bathroom and bedroom. It was in the summer of 2011 that I started to re-do Nate's room and could never find the time to finish it so it was long overdue. I'll spare the long details in the other rooms but will post some of the pics to show at least what we I did. Nothing extraordinary but it was a change & I don't feel like the house is so full of dark stuff anymore and I love that. :-)
So here goes my best attempt at a before & after...

You get the general idea of what it was before. This was when the torn wallpaper look was super "in". I think I got in on the tail end of it with his bathroom. Neither Jason or I ever liked it but I assumed we would be gone before I would have to worry about taking it down. Let me just say that it probably took Nate & I a week of steaming the wallpaper off (2 layers) and peeling it off the wall. Yup. Fun times. :-)

I noticed in your master bath before pic, you have your towels hung over your shower. We do that too because there isn't another great place to put them. They weren't in your after picture so did you find a better spot for them? I need an idea for mine!

Good eye! The towels in the before picture would not have been there if I knew I was putting them on my blog at a later date lol. But...I did have a chrome hook hung in my closet that has 4 hooks that swivel (I think I got it at Lowe's)so I could hang the towels on them. :-)
